Summary

Join Lomas Architecture for a tour of a new-build timber frame Passivhaus home located near the picturesque village of Ashover in rural Derbyshire.

The brief for the house is that it provides living accommodation for the owner of the fishery business and is located adjacent to the stock rearing ponds and where it has a good view of the Trout Lake. The design philosophy has been informed by the simple barn typology of many of the agricultural buildings in the area - a two storey rectangular building with a pitched slate roof and oriented on an east/west access so the main elevation faces south towards the lake.

EcoComfort are the contractor and work with an established European timber frame company who have delivered many Passivhaus buildings in Europe and the UK. Once groundworks were completed, the main superstructure of the house was erected and weathertight within 3 days. The construction is now entering the second fix stage and will be completed this summer.
