Discover an Exhibition of Passivhaus Paradigms

You may have heard that this is the inaugural year that the UK Passivhaus Conference exhibition opens up to the public.  What is Passivhaus and what is required to acheive the standard in the UK? If you are new to the standard and intrigued to find out more, this afternoon event is for you.

The exhibition will open to the public from 14.00 to 17.00. Here are a few things you won’t want to miss:

Feature Exhibitors

Large scaled models/ features of construction details will enable hands on learning via scheduled demonstrations in the tradeshow area by our feature exhibitors. They will highlight the importance of quality construction and attention to details in Passivhaus design and build. View a timetable here.

Passivhaus build system demonstration

Beattie Passive: Stand PHC-18

Window installation and airtightness detailing demonstration

Green Building store: Stand PHC-20

The innovative Beattie Passive Build System is a patented design technology that simplifies the delivery and cost of Passivhaus. Designed into any style, shape and size of property, the system provides a fast and efficient construction process, both on and off-site.

The full-scale mock up will show the wall, floor and ceiling detailing. There will also be a section of a retrofit product TCosyTM. The demonstration will focus on the key stages involved in the manufacture and erection, constructing the timber joists and Beattie Passive detailing to show how the system is built to achieve Passivhaus Standards easily and affordably.

The new build demonstration will show the PROGRESSION window in a typical Passivhaus new build timber frame wall and give an understanding of optimal detailing of a PHI A-rated inward-opening window.

The retrofit demonstration will show the GBS ULTRA outward opening window in an EnerPHit wall with internal wall insulation, including optimal detailing with vacuum insulated panels for outward opening windows.  Each demonstration will show the optimum detail to minimise thermal bridges, together with external weathering details and selection and use of correct airtightness tapes.

Cellulose insulation in timber frame construction demonstration

PYC Warmcel: Stand PHC-05

Taster Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson course

Saint-Gobain: Stand PHC-19

PYC will demonstrate the virtues of Warmcel in timber frame construction, in addition to the methods and materials used to address the key challenges of Passivhaus design.

The display model will comprise of a 300mm twin stud timber wall, fully filled with Warmcel insulation.  Externally, Isoplaat woodfibre board has been used to provide windtightness and to cut thermal bridging through the frame. The model also uses Pro Clima systems for air-tightness.

This course provides a chance to learn from the trainers that developed the world’s first accredited Passivhaus Tradesperson course, the Passive House Academy, in conjunction with Saint-Gobain, the world leader in design, production and distribution of construction materials, delivering innovative products and services with tomorrow in mind.

A course for ‘thinking fingers’, the training is based on hands-on learning with much of the course duration detailing and installing products and systems to meet the Passivhaus standard.
