This year the Conference will focus on successful delivery of Passivhaus at scale, including case studies of leading Passivhaus projects from the UK and Europe. A selection from the 2016 programme are listed below:

Heidelberg Bahnstadt, Germany

Heading up our international selection is a 2 billion-euro development in Heidelberg Germany, the largest urban district in the world built entirely in accordance with the Passivhaus standard. Passivhaus homes, schools, offices and shopping centres, smart metering, CHP from wood-waste, along with other green credentials make this a net-zero district.

Three Score, Norwich

Three Score - Norwich

Three Score, a residential development of 112 homes, is one of many big Passivhaus developments underway in Norfolk and is set to become one of the UK’s biggest residential Passivhaus schemes. Planning was granted in May 2015 and delivery is now underway utilising Norwich City Council’s ‘Fabric First Framework. Hear more about the design and delivery of the scheme.

Cedar Street, Glasgow

Cedar Street & Cedar Court - Glasgow

A large-scale retrofit project in Glasgow tackles the upgrade of 3 residential tower blocks, originally built in the 1960’s, to the EnerPHit Standard. The work for Queens Cross Housing Association is being carried out by Collective Architecture who will explain the fabric first approach for the 314 homes and pioneering a new decentralised ventilation system.

Leicester Medical Centre

Leicester Medical Centre

The University of Leicester’s Medical Centre is the largest commercial Passivhaus in the UK. The £42 million development, provides approximately 12,000m2 accommodation for 2400 staff and students in three linked towers that rise up from a two-storey podium. PHT Patron member Wilmott Dixon and the Medical Centre client will discuss the performance of this Passivhaus giant.

CREST

Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies (CREST)

Hear the challenges of building Northern Ireland’s £1.5million Centre for Renewable Energy and Sustainable Technologies (CREST), which provides support to help small and medium-sized firms compete in the renewable energy and sustainable technologies sector. The CREST Centre has dedicated R&D spaces, the flagship CREST Passive Pavilion, and Europe’s first robot-managed solar array.

Elephant Park

Elephant Park - London

3000 new build homes form part of the Elephant and Castle Regeneration Masterplan, with a terraced row of 15 three-storey townhouses in the first phase Elephant Park scheme, aiming for Passivhaus standard. Construction is underway and the building has passed initial air tests with completion scheduled for Spring/Summer 2017. Lendlease will explain the plans and construction approach.
