Discover a proven fabric-first approach to low-energy building. Delivered by PHT Patron Coaction Training CIC, this Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson Course is designed for construction professionals working at supervisory or management level. It develops the practical knowledge needed to understand how construction decisions affect building performance and how to achieve the required quality on site.

Who should attend?

This training is principally for construction professionals working at supervisory or management level, including contractors, Design & Pre-construction Teams, Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, Clerks of Works, Senior Management Teams and Site Supervisors, as well as clients involved or interested in low-energy building.

Programme

Delivered online over four live 3-hour sessions, this course introduces the principles of Passivhaus and focuses on the practical considerations involved in delivering high-performance buildings on site. Topics covered include:

Session 1 – Building to Perform: introduction
Session 2 – Introduction to the Passivhaus standard and certification overview; what it means for design and construction; insulation and thermal bridges
Session 3 – Insulation in practice; windows and installation approaches; airtightness theory
Session 4 – Airtightness in practice, including planning and sequencing; building services integration; wrap up and next steps

Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson Exam

The Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson exam is optional. Those taking the exam receive additional preparation and support through:

Revision session – 3 hours
Pre-exam checks – 1.5 hours
Online exam – 2 hours

Format

Teaching is through four live online sessions, each 3 hours long.
Each session is led by experienced Passivhaus trainers.
Trainers are currently working in the Passivhaus and low-energy building sector, bringing experience of real projects and practical challenges.
The Coaction team is available every working day for technical and administrative support.
The Certified Passivhaus Tradesperson exam is optional and can be taken alongside the training.
