Good Architecture

Good Architecture has 20 years experience of designing buildings for living, community and work. It is our intention to create low energy, environment conscious, inclusive buildings through: • Good working relationships during the project and after. • Good design that meets the project brief, makes economic use of resources and results in buildings that are good to use. • Good detailing and construction. As well as new build projects, we have worked on many old buildings that have demonstrated ‘loose fit’ - the ability to be adapted and used in a new way.

Greenoak is a small developing housing association working in Surrey and Sussex. Since 2000 we have addressed the linked themes of sustainability, design quality and construction performance through a quality-driven development process. Our central tenet is ˜liveability": simple, passive solutions that will minimise the risk of problems for tenants and achieve good building performance. Future-proofing is achieved by allowing for renewable energy systems to be retro-fitted. The latest scheme in West Sussex is designed to CSH level 4 and is the first scheme to use renewable energy: a solar hot water system.

Gresford Architects Ltd

Gresford Architects are based in London and Oxford and seek to create buildings that are thoughtful, practical, sustainable and beautiful. We are interested in how spaces (and the buildings that create them) make us feel; how every decision that goes into creating a space – the materiality (surfaces, joints, planes, textures), the positioning of the windows and doors, of lighting and heating – must be carefully considered to allow the perfect marriage of the poetic and the practical. We have a fundamental belief in the importance of building in a sustainable manner, so that the buildings we create last for generations, are efficient in their use of materials and energy (in both construction and use) and are comfortable and pleasant places to be. We have a Certified Passivhaus Designer among our staff and will soon be recognised as a Certified Passivhaus Designer as a practice. We believe that the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) is a tool that should be used to help design and inform the creation of new buildings from the outset, and encourage our clients to see the long term benefits of the early adoption of PHPP modelling on their projects. We also work with a wide range of experienced Passivhaus consultants, contractors and subcontractors, and can thus help our clients put together the right team to deliver their projects.
