Who we're looking for

The Passivhaus Trust is growing rapidly and will play a pivotal role in the delivery of zero carbon buildings over the next ten years; the person we are looking for will help position Passivhaus within this wider picture.

This contract is to support PHT education research activities, answering to the Trust’s Research & Policy Director. Activities will include:

Essential Skills


Developing and managing agreements for the delivery of Passivhaus training courses with existing training providers, for example:

New Model Institute for Technology & Engineering (NMITE)

Built Environment: Smarter Transformation (BE-ST)

Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC)

Developing/ managing development of training materials on Passivhaus, either newbuild and/or retrofit, at an introductory/ intermediate/ advanced level, for example:

PH in relation to Net Zero or low energy standards

Step-by-step Passivhaus-based retrofit

MVHR and/or heat pumps in Passivhaus properties

Developing/ managing a series of PHT “how to build” webinars, including agreeing the programme, confirming speakers, hosting/ chairing the events & analysing feedback to inform future training events

Supervising the preparation of online training materials for the PHT e-learning platform, including development of learning outcomes, quizzes, modular videos etc

Development of proposals for funding of new and ongoing education activities at the Trust

Responding to technical queries

Assisting with presentations and writing articles/ news items

Liaison with members and other technical or policy contacts

Assisting with events, seminars, conferences, and campaigns


About you

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who wants to play a pivotal role in helping the Trust spread knowledge about Passivhaus across the UK to help us address the climate and ecological emergency. You will have:

  • minimum qualifications of a relevant degree
  • at least 5-10 years’ relevant work experience
  • knowledge of low energy building policies & practices & how Passivhaus relates
  • knowledge of the construction-related training landscape
  • good technical knowledge and excellent writing skills
  • good presenting skills

Contract Details

This post is initially offered as a one-year contract with the option of further extension. Part-time position, approx. £50,000 FTE. The Trust is very flexible in its approach to this contract, and will consider either part-time PAYE, sub-contract or paid secondment arrangements as appropriate for the right candidate. The role will be fully home-based, with occasional meetings as required.
