Passivhaus Trust and ACAN announce strategic partnership

The Passivhaus Trust is delighted to announce a new strategic partnership with Architects Climate Action Network (ACAN), a network of built environment professionals taking action on the climate and ecological crises. Together, we'll share knowledge, build skills and competencies, and support our shared goals. The partnership also launches a new series of free lunchtime webinars.

Together, the organisations will explore and develop opportunities for collaborative working that support transformational change across the built environment sector. This work will be centred on the Passivhaus methodology and standards, helping to drive significant improvements in the sustainability, performance and quality of buildings.

We are delighted to announce this collaboration with ACAN, whose breadth and extent of work and support across the architectural profession and beyond is exceptional. By joining forces we aim to make Passivhaus accessible to a wider audience and encourage learning and reflection across the breadth of the profession today. Plant Based Passivhaus at the ACAN stand Futurebuild 2025

This partnership pairs ACAN's grassroots reach across the profession with the Passivhaus Trust's leadership on the Passivhaus standard, opening up real knowledge exchange between our two networks. The Trust's work championing the standard's adoption and developing accessible technical guidance aligns closely with our LESS CARBON: MORE TRUTH campaign, and its call to close the gap between building promises and building performance. Together, we can accelerate the shift towards better buildings for all. We're excited to get started."

Online Introductory PHPP Webinars

The strategic partnership builds on previous events and webinars, including sessions that have ‘Demystified’ Passivhaus and explored new approaches to ‘Plant Based Passivhaus’. Most recently, Maiia Williams and Patrick Osborne presented "Energy prediction should not be specialist knowledge" at Futurebuild 2026. The session introduced the Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP), the energy modelling software they use daily across their project work.

Building on the positive response to this presentation, the Passivhaus Trust and ACAN will launch a series of four free one-hour lunchtime webinars running from September to December.

The sessions are designed for built environment professionals who want to gain a practical introduction to PHPP and develop a better understanding of building energy performance. Delivered by Passivhaus Trust members, technical experts and ACAN contributors, the webinars will support wider adoption of Passivhaus principles across the sector.

PHI points will be available. Attendees should have their own copy of PHPP to get the most from the sessions.
