UK Passivhaus Awards - A look back
Five years on from when the Trust began, we feel like it's a good time for reflection.
The main objective of the UK Passivhaus awards is to celebrate exemplar projects that meet the standard, not only on form, function, and innovation, but crucially how they perform.
As a special feature at the 2015 Awards ceremony, where we will celebrate our fifth anniversary, we will be taking a 'reflective' look back at the first UK Passivhaus Award winners from 2012:

Performance over time
For this feature we will take a look at how the projects have weathered and if they are still performing as expected and initially designed. The buildings have all had some monitoring take place, and information from each of the 3 schemes will be collated into a short video, filmed by Regen Media highlighting:
- Sharing performance data from when the building was initially certified.
- Comparing initial data with monitored performance data at a subsequent date.
- Identifying what the main challenges were that had to be overcome, and potential reasons they occurred.
The will be screened at the Awards ceremony on the 7th July, held in London at the Residence of the Austrian Ambassador. You can view similar videos here of previous UK Passivhaus Awards finalists.
After the event, the Trust will look into compiling the shared data into a report, so watch this space!
5 years has flown by and Passivhaus is achieving increasing scale and momentum in the UK; it is therefore important to learn lessons from previous projects and build upon them. One of the great things about the Passivhaus culture is that it promotes open sharing. It will be really interesting to see how these pioneer UK Passivhaus projects currently fare in terms of performance, whether they worked as intended when first certified, and whether they’ve maintained that performance over time.
