About

The aim of the UK Passivhaus Awards 2014 was to promote the Passivhaus Standard in the UK, to encourage drive and enthusiasm for the Passivhaus standard, to gather evidence that Passivhaus buildings address occupant health and well-being, energy saving and other sustainability issues.

2014 Objectives:

  1. to recognise that Passivhaus buildings in the UK can be beautiful and aesthetically pleasing
  2. to highlight that Passivhaus building can be build cost effectively 
  3. to demonstrate that Passivhaus buildings perform as well as predicted

Three Passivhaus affordable homes within the North Norfolk AONB, reflecting the local vernacular of traditional fishermen's cottages.

Consists of 2/3-bed semi-detached houses, two of which are Passivhaus accredited. Built under Rural Exception Housing policies.

Redeveloped brownfield site providing 38 homes including 12 Passivhaus. The houses are arranged into a series of terraces that form a coherent street block, optimising orientation and forming ‘green rooms’ around the mature trees.

The first passivhaus in Ayrshire; inspired by  vernacular haysheds which respond to local climatic conditions. Balancing views, sunlight, and low maintenance, the design reflects the forms & colours of the landscape.

  • The UK Passivhaus Awards are the only dedicated awards for Passivhaus in the UK.
  • All shortlisted projects in the awards will be promoted as pioneers of their sector through all the Passivhaus Trust marketing channels and the media. 
  • The shortlisted projects will be featured prominently on the Passivhaus Trust website, which attracts over 16,000 page impressions per month.
  • All shortlisted entrants and their projects will also be featured in a special edition of the Passivhaus Trust newsletter which reaches over 2,000 developers, housing associations, architects, engineering consultants and other organisations in 15 countries.
  • The shortlisted entry teams/ individuals will be invited to present their project at the Awards ceremony to take place on 1 July 2014 to an audience of key industry leaders, clients, architects and engineering consultants.
  • In addition, all projects shortlisted in the 2014 UK Passivhaus Awards, will feature in an A1 poster exhibition at the UK Passivhaus conference 2014 and at other major Passivhaus events.
  • The winning projects will feature in a special edition of the Passivhaus Trust newsletter and will receive detailed coverage in the Passive House+ magazine.
