Webinar hosts - Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Passivhaus retrofit case studies webinar series?

We’re preparing for increased public interest in Passivhaus Retrofit & a surge of introductory level enquiries following an upcoming Channel 4 documentary with Guy Martin. We want to connect homeowners with trusted professionals across our membership who have delivered a Passivhaus retrofit.

What does participation involve?

Sharing a case study and hosting a webinar that is available to the public. The webinar can be held on any platform. The Trust can help advise on setting up booking via Eventbrite. Although you would host the event, the Trust will promote the event to those who make an enquiry.

Who can host a webinar?

If you are a Passivhaus Trust member working in retrofit, including designers, consultants, contractors, housing providers, training organisations, and product specialists then we would welcome your application to deliver a project-based webinar. We encourage project teams to collaborate and deliver a range of perspectives on projects.

Eligibility criteria:

  • Exclusive opportunity for Passivhaus Trust members
  • Webinars must be case study led and Passivhaus Retrofit focused.
  • At least one person from the project team is available at the webinar
  • Projects can be at various stages - from fully occupied to under construction
  • New or established, participating projects from any sector are welcome
  • Ideally webinars will be open and freely available to all, please contact the Trust if you'd like to discuss this further.

What kind of involvement are you looking for?

We’re inviting members who have been involved in a Passivhaus retrofit project to showcase their scheme in a series of 1-hour member-led webinars. We’re planning the series to take place weekly throughout the spring, immediately after the TV programme has aired.

Is this aimed at homeowners only?

No, we are expecting enquiries from homeowners – but we could also see enquiries from social housing providers, councils, and policymakers; as well as other practitioners.

What are the public most concerned about when it comes to retrofitting their home?

Following an in-depth survey, which we undertook in 2025, we believe the biggest barriers for homeowners planning a retrofit project are:

  • Finding the right provider & trusting professionals

  • Cost and disruption

  • Feasibility to their home and precedence

Therefore, we are hoping that the support we offer will address the concerns homeowners may have.

How much time will it take?

The session itself should take 45 minutes (max 1 hour) including time for audience Q&A, however you will need to allow some time in advance to prepare your presentation.

What happens after I express interest?

We’ll confirm the next steps, which will include:

  • Proposed dates for the sessions

  • An overview of the project you’re planning to highlight

  • Your event registration details
