Racecourse Passivhaus wins CENE Regional innovation award
The Racecourse Passivhaus scheme was awarded the CENE (Construction Excellence in the North East) Regional Innovation award on 11th May at the Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel. Held every year in May, the Constructing Excellence in the North East Awards are a celebration of everything the North East construction industry has to be proud of. Winners are selected across 14 categories including Innovation, Integration, Value, Sustainability, Heritage and Student of the Year.
The award was presented to Gentoo Homes, Gentoo Sunderland, Devereux Architects- Project Architect Mark Siddall, Alan Clarke, Cundall and Kent Design Winners go on to compete in the National Constructing Excellence Awards, held every year in the Autumn.
The development of 28 homes is the largest PassivHaus certified scheme currently in the UK. This scheme has the interest of the Government and as such is in the national spotlight, being the case studied by Zero Carbon Hub, Energy Saving Trust and Technology Strategy Board.
