Why are you sponsoring the UK Passivhaus Awards 2023?

Ecology Building Society has partnered with the UK Passivhaus awards for 8 years. The Passivhaus Trust is a perfect partner for Ecology Building Society, as we’re both member organisations sharing the same vision and values. We’re proud to be part of the awards again this year as we believe it’s important to celebrate all of the impressive UK Passivhaus projects.

What is your favourite certified project?

It’s really tough to choose just one but it would have to be Lancaster Cohousing. Genuinely pioneering at a time where Passivhaus was much less well known and proved that the Passivhaus standard was something a whole community housing project could genuinely deliver. It’s also their ongoing passion for the sustainable homes they’ve created and how they are sharing that knowledge and encouraging other communities to pick up the baton.

What do you hope to see in the Passivhaus Awards entries?

It would be great to see innovation, enthusiasm and passion for sustainable future proofed buildings where building a greener society shaped all decisions throughout the process.

We’d like to see solely renewable energy sources being used to enable occupants to act as renewable energy prosumers, rather than just consumers.
