Freebridge Community Housing gains a pair of Passivhaus homes
PHT member Parsons + Whittley add to their ever expanding Passivhaus portfolio with the certification of 2 semi-detached homes for Freebridge Community Housing.
The two new semi- detached, 3-bedroomed Passivhaus dwellings received certification in July 2015. They replace No. 6 Clapper Lane, whilst sharing and improving the existing access and parking arrangement to the four adjacent flats which are also within the control of Freebridge Community Housing. As well as meeting Passivhaus Standard, the affordable development aims for Code for Sustainable Homes level 3.

The appearance of the new homes is of traditionally-constructed brick-built houses with entrance canopies which provide a welcoming presence to the side entrance doors from the roadside. Both proposed dwellings have side entrances in order to maximise the potential for glazing to face the road (south-east) and to minimise overlooking of neighbouring properties.
