Oxford

Architecture Landscape Urbanism is an architectural practice founded in 2013 by Fergus Alexander RIBA CEPH Designer. We are fascinated about how people might use the spaces we design, and how architecture and landscape generated through a deep understanding human interactions, can influence our lives, homes and cities for the better. We believe that a holistic approach is required in the design of sustainable places that brings together the rigor of environmentally sound building design, with a people centered approach to the design and retrofit of beautiful spaces for living, working and relaxing. We have an office in Oxford with projects across the UK and work with our clients through all stages of their building project.

Gresford Architects Ltd

Oxford

Gresford Architects are based in London and Oxford and seek to create buildings that are thoughtful, practical, sustainable and beautiful. We are interested in how spaces (and the buildings that create them) make us feel; how every decision that goes into creating a space – the materiality (surfaces, joints, planes, textures), the positioning of the windows and doors, of lighting and heating – must be carefully considered to allow the perfect marriage of the poetic and the practical. We have a fundamental belief in the importance of building in a sustainable manner, so that the buildings we create last for generations, are efficient in their use of materials and energy (in both construction and use) and are comfortable and pleasant places to be. We have a Certified Passivhaus Designer among our staff and will soon be recognised as a Certified Passivhaus Designer as a practice. We believe that the Passive House Planning Package (PHPP) is a tool that should be used to help design and inform the creation of new buildings from the outset, and encourage our clients to see the long term benefits of the early adoption of PHPP modelling on their projects. We also work with a wide range of experienced Passivhaus consultants, contractors and subcontractors, and can thus help our clients put together the right team to deliver their projects.

Welshpool

From Passive House design and construction to high quality joinery finishes, we pride ourselves in creating beautiful and sustainable buildings. With over 25 years' experience, we prioritise a 'Fabric First' approach that starts at the design stage, using materials and products that maximise the performance and energy efficiency of the building. Our timber frame houses begin life in our factory in Wales as fully engineered, insulated and air-tight closed panels. The panelised units are then transported to site where a weather protected structure can be assembled in a few days. The materials in our build systems are predominantly timber based and procured locally where possible. By using Warmcel cellulose fibre insulation along with timber and woodfibre lining boards, timber I-beams, timber windows, and timber cladding, carbon is locked-in to create a sustainable building that is healthy, comfortable and enjoyable to live in. Warmcel has also been awarded a Nature Plus Certificate. Full technical information is available on our website: pycgroup.co.uk and warmcel.co.uk.

Our aim is to deliver high-end extensions, refurbishments and new builds across Northumberland, Tyne & Wear and County Durham. We work tirelessly to produce a high-quality finish to match the brief set out at the start of the project and to bring the project in on time. We do this by developing close working relationships with our team, clients, other local trades and architects who we liaise with regularly. We are also proud to have recently completed the most Northerly certified Passivhaus in England which won the Constructing Excellence in the North East Residential Project of the Year 2022.

Ty Eco

Wrexham

Tŷ Eco (Welsh for Eco House) produces an economical, panelised Passivhaus building system. We do not use polyurethane, EPS (polystyrene) or any other oil-based products to insulate our wall, ceiling or intermediate-floor panels – from the slab up, the building system is sustainable, renewable and/or recyclable. Our sister company - Minera Roof Trusses - has been producing engineered timber products since 1977. Utilising their extensive manufacturing experience, we have engineered a high-quality building system that can be easily supplied to site and erected quickly with a finish ensured through the Passivhaus quality assurance process. Tŷ Eco is currently constructing a prototype bungalow with a view to achieving Passivhaus accreditation (April 2021).

Most of my work is based in Gwynedd, Anglesey, Conwy and Snowdonia. I work with many clients and their projects including residential new-build, extensions, alterations, community projects, listed buildings and conservation projects. I have a driven desire to reduce our environmental impact through the efficient use of space and materials, applying these principles to each of my projects.
