Passivhaus Retrofit Masterclass series wrapped
We have been blown away by the appetite for the popular Passivhaus Retrofit Masterclass lecture series. Over the 6 sessions, we've hosted 12 knowledgeable speakers divulging their real-life experiences with almost 1000 attendees.
From single dwelling cavity walls to large non-domestic constructions and everything in-between, the series purposefully covered a broad spectrum of topics and construction typologies. It has provided invaluable insights into the challenges, strategies and solutions surrounding the Passivhaus retrofit process.
The good news is that if you missed any of the series, it is still possible to access recordings. Each session attended was the equivalent of 2 PHI credit renewal points, with those attending all six sessions gaining 12 points. Please explore the Passivhaus Retrofit campaign page for more on where to start with your EnerPHit schemes.
The Masterclass series provided some great case studies for a wide range of building types. There was lots of food for thought on possible solutions that can be considered in our own projects. It was really inspiring to hear what is being achieved across the Passivhaus community. It is greatly encouraging to hear about projects that are achieving really deep retrofit and large energy and carbon savings.

The UK has some of the worst-performing buildings in Europe. To retrofit all 27 million homes would require one home every 35 seconds between 2020 and 2050. Compounded by the cost-of-living crisis, soaring energy price hikes, and concerns over fuel security – how we heat our homes (and minimising the number of people falling in to fuel poverty) is very topical! The introductory webinar is freely accessible to all and covers some of these issues. Please share widely, particularly with clients and local authorities.

Providing this level of in-depth training direct to my desk over lunch is a real boon. Whereas previously, I may have needed two days away, travel and accommodation, this has significantly increased my learning-to-downtime ratio. Even for experienced designers like me there was plenty of innovation to interest me and impressive case studies to inspire. PHT have really pulled off something excellent with this Masterclass series, just what I needed!
