Caister-on-sea Passivhaus homes receive certification

A pair of 2-bed semi-detached houses in Caister, Norfolk, built using the patented Beattie Passive build system, have been Passivhaus certified. They are part of a 12 home development currently underway across three council housing estate sites in Great Yarmouth which are being built as in-fill developments to provide much needed housing.

The properties are designed to be the ‘council homes of the future’, cutting tenants’ carbon emissions and energy bills through reduced heat-loss.

The scheme has been made possible due to a change in the council house funding system in 2012. Work started in autumn 2013, with the remaining three bungalows in Caister due for completion this week, followed by the Martham site in July, and the Bradwell site in August.
